Move away, they aren't going to attack something that much bigger than themself for no reason. Most likely, you're too near their babies, or you’re just intruding on their territory. Put hands in pockets so that you don't get your fingers chomped. read more
A rabid mongoose will go mad, like a mad rabid dog, or a mad rabid cat, and due to the insanity of rabies it will typically attack anything that gets near it, including humans. A healthy mongoose will almost never attack a human, preferring to avoid conflict with large mammals, including people. read more
