I wouldn't know which specific recording has the fastest tempo. What I can say is that many jazz tunes are typically recorded at breakneck speeds. Cherokee is one example. Also in this category would be many bebop tunes. read more
I don’t know which is “the fastest”, but I had fun practicing along with these guys—well, a recording of these guys. It’s “Bebop”. I think it feels so fast because it’s a unison line and is otherwise completely naked. read more

The best record ever made has changed a lot during my life! At one point it would have been ‘Blonde On Blonde’, then it would have been Coltrane’s ‘My Favorite Things’, then ‘Ascension’, then ‘Electric Ladyland’, it needs to be a record that has so many different feels, some visceral emotional experience, great lyrics. read more
