In 1995 an 8.0 magnitude quake hit off the coast near Jalicso, triggering a tsunami that swamped 120 miles of coast. And at least 5,000 people died in the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. The main shock of 8.0 magnitude was followed by two massive aftershocks of 7.0 and 7.5 magnitude. read more
