The last human sacrifice in Hawaiʻi that I know of was of Kanihonui, a young man (19) who violated the kapu placed on the wife of Kamehameha, (his Queen Kaʻahuman), in 1809. He was sacrificed at Papaʻenaʻena also, which caused Kaʻahumanu great grief, and may have contributed to her move, after Kamehameha’s Death in 1819, to abolish the kapu system that resulted in such sacrifices. read more
