Firstly, let me clear your misconceptions! Owning pet turtles or tortoises are not illegal in India! It all comes down to the breed of your turtle! You can own Exotic breeds. turtles/tortoises found in the wild in India cannot be kept as pets! Only animals indigenous to India/Asia are illegal to own. E.g.: the star tortoise. read more
