I've summarized current FAA regulations (Part 107), effective 8/29/2016. Other federal, state, or local agencies and governments may prohibit flying in places, such as national or regional parks. California. It’s always legal to fly your own drone on your own property (below 400ft) unless you’re within the restricted area surrounding airports though. read more
