October is a very iffy month to hike and camp high in Yosemite. Overnight parking is not usually allowed, especially the latter part of the month on CA 120 because if you are not following weather forecasts closely, you risk getting snowed or worse. I'm not talking a urban type snow storm (think Donner Party). read more

Yosemite Valley is at 4,000 feet but Tuolumne Meadows is at approximately 8,600 feet, so it's going to be colder at Tuolumne Meadows than Yosemite Valley.
