Unless you're really strapped for cash, go for Corvallis. It's a stunning, welcoming city with a very bright population, and the most bikes per-capita of any city in the US. read more

I've been to quite a few places in the world, and I even lived in LA for 12 years. Corvallis is still my favorite Albany is pretty much industrial. My family goes into Albany for First Burger (great restaurant), and some more upscale clothing stores (though if you want somewhere like Macy's, go to Salem). read more

Portland and Bend are great, but are really expensive places to live. Eugene and Corvallis are less expensive, and have lots of 20-somethings due to the universities.
