Which is better for living, Manchester or Leeds?

Leeds is colder. In Manchester the rain stops more often. Manchester Airport has more destinations than any other UK airport, so it is good for travel. Research-wise, with its universities, Manchester comes out ahead; it has Europe’s biggest educational campus with world-leading scientific research. read more

So, please regale me with your tales of living up north and anything I ought to know before deciding to move. Just to be clear, Manchester and Leeds are where two potential jobs are, so recommendations to live in Sheffield/York/other lovely northern places won't be helpful. Leeds is a cool place, don't get me wrong, but Manchester is bigger, has more going on there, and there are better opportunities for jobs and housing. It also has much more of the feel of a world city, and is less provincial minded. read more
