Which is better: Munich or Vienna?

Munich or Vienna. My thoughts on each are below, along with a bit about us (so recommendations may be easier) - Germany is big and might be better to do in its own trip (but that may be a great deal of time away). I know there is more I want to see, but I want to see it more than Vienna. read more

Munich has a better job market and higher salaries but Vienna is cheaper. Weather is fairly similar, Vienna is just slightly sunnier. Both rank among the top most livable cities, though Vienna usually edges out Munich. read more

Either city is fun. My vote would be Munich--but if you're doing a future trip to Berlin and Munich, Vienna is fine, too. Salzburg and the surrounding lakes are another good choice. You can easily spend a couple of weeks in Munich and never run out of things there or in surrounding towns. read more
