Yes, Texas is overwhelmingly conservative and, yes, Texas affords almost no rights to gay people (just like the aforementioned states), but why Texas doesn't make the list is that Texas is far more diverse politically, has FOUR large cities that are incredibly vibrant, open, accepting"meccas" for gay people (Dallas, Houston [of,"We have a gay mayor" fame], Austin [the most liberal city between San Francisco and Chicago] and San Antonio. read more
