Whoever keeps you warm but not too warm. There is no one best bag, it depends on where you plan to camp how cold it will get, and how wet it will get. Down is great, period. It packs small, and has the best warmth to weight ratio. However you get it wet, and it loses its insulation capabilities for a long, long time. read more

NEMO, Kelty and Marmot all make quality sleeping bags. Other brands to look for are Slumberjack, Sierra Designs, Big Agnes, Mountain Hardwear and The North Face. Most of these manufacturers have inexpensive models that may not be of the quality of their more expensive bags. read more
