Econ major is scientifically more valuable. Most universities offer a range of academic levels for core classes. Econ classes are in the mid-upper segment and business is below. e.g. I studied in a university that had 6 levels of "Stat 101", level 4 was for econ and level 2 for business/social sciences (the lowest level was for dept. of education). read more

A business degree is valuable (sometimes even necessary) for some jobs, but it is much more limiting. Oh, and you probably shouldn't major in "business administration," no matter what. If you're going to do business, it generally makes more sense to specialize (in accounting, or finance, or marketing, or whatever). read more
