Not even close, Stalingrad. D Day was successful on its first day. Stalingrad lasted from July 17 ‘42 to Feb 2 ‘43. Stalin ordered a “no retreat” and had men that would shoot any retreating Russian soldier. He also refused to allow the civilians to leave. read more

By far, Stalingrad was more important. By D-Day, the Red Army was already in Poland and closing in on Berlin. Stalin wanted a second front to ease pressure on his forces, but even if that hadn't happened, Hitler's days were still numbered. D-Day was useful, but Stalingrad was pivotal. read more
