However the truth is that the jury is still out— If King’s work is still in print 160 years from now, and still read by those who want a sense of what turn of the century America was like, in the same way that Dickens provides a remarkable window into England of the Industrial Revolution years, then (and only then) will it be fair to say that King is “on par with” Dickens. read more
So, if nothing else, this shows King holds Charles way above himself (duh!), and considers Salman and Irving to be cut from a similar cloth. Therefore, it can be argued, Stephen King must rank these two pretty high on his list to make the comparison. Maybe he even considered them the best. But that happened way back in 1995. read more
