Those colors still dominate, but the red has been updated to something brighter, and the colors of a deep yellow (almost gold) and black are added in outline, or for the beak of the mascot, etc. The mascot got changed to the "Redbird" in about the 1920s. read more

No official state colors are listed the state legislature's State Symbols webpage nor in Chapter 1.20 of the Revised Code of Washington (where other official symbols are designated). Some sources list dark green and gold/yellow, the two colors specified for the flag by law since 1925. read more
