Depends which part you are referring to. Great Britain, or the United Kingdom, is really an amalgamation of a number of countries, primarily England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each country had its own origins. What is now called England was originally a number of Angle, Saxon, Jute, and even Scandinavian kingdoms. read more
