Pioneer Greek geographer "Hecataeus" is widely recognized as the Father of Geography. Hecataeus was a resident of Miletus. Very little is known about his date of birth and early life but he was a great statesman and pioneer geographer. He was the first writer of Greek prose. read more
Along with Alexander von Humboldt, he is considered one of the founders of modern geography. From 1825 until his death, he occupied the first chair in geography at the University of Berlin. read more
