His name was corrupted, probably as a slur, to mean “Lord of the Dung”, politely translated as “Lord of the Flies” since flies hang around dung. Again, this is not the Egyptian Goddess but she is sometimes confused with the Ugaritic God because of the similarity of the titles. read more
