Mengele''s research was very, very twisted but he had the excuse that it was for 'science'. Mengele (his degree was rescinded, he’s not a doctor anymore) was a Hauptsturmführer in the SS, which is equivalent to the army’s captain rank. Ishii Shirou, his Japanese counterpart, was a Lieutenant General, and outranks Mengele by at least five ranks. read more
