Euclid formalized geometry(now known as euclidean geometry) through his 5 postulates : He also did some work in spherical geometry and number theory. If you're interested: Look up "hyperbolic geometry". Euclid's 5th postulate doesn't work in hyperbolic space and that leads to some fascinating results. read more
