Harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt and pianist Glenn Gould. The first for authentic style, the second for polyphony. Among the living pianists Grigory Sokolov wins, hands down. Perahia (fuzzy and romantic) and Andres Schiff (mannered and dark sound) can't even hold a candle to Sokolov. read more

BTW, J.S. Bach himself was known as a formidable keyboardist so it is well within the realm of possibility that Bach was the greatest interpretor of his own keyboard works. Of course, I refer to Sebastion Bach. Other famous Bach composers exist as the Bachs were a musical family. read more
