Well, assuming this is a Grizzly male, and this is a grey wolf pack and the bear is pissed, I say it takes somewhere between 10-20 wolves. Bear hide is durable as hell, and the maneuvering space for the wolves is going to be dramatically reduced due to it being at a cave. read more
But by the time you get to 3 or more wolves, it will be a rare Grizzly that will win out against the pack’s numbers and cooperative strategies. One can certainly imagine scenarios wherein the bear could prevail (e.g., snugged into a cleft in the rock, with the carcass secured behind him and a limited arc of approach for the wolves), but for most situations, bet on the numbers. read more
