Collectively, Haitians are likely to be more genetically African than African-Americans. Haiti is a very small country in which over the centuries there has been much less race mixture than in the United States. Also being poor, Haiti does not attract that much of an international population that would enhance the genetic mixing. read more

Haitians are generally more African than African Americans for many reasons 1) Slavery was ALOT harsher in Haiti than it was in the United States. Because of that, the colonists there kept on importing new slaves from Africa to replace the ones that died or ran away to the mountains. read more

Whether you are a black from the States, Europe, the islands or anywhere else in the world, we are all a part of the African diaspora and should respect one another as distant kin.
