There's another issue that hasn't yet been brought up: geometry tends to be focused on proof, while algebra tends to be more focused on mechanical processes, at least until you get into linear and abstract algebra. read more
I'm one of those people who was good at Geometry, but bad at Algebra. Eventually I caught up and was good at both. The question why did bother me for a long time, and it's good to see that I'm not alone. read more
