Why am I receiving duplicate text messages on AT&T?

I have been plagued with repeating / duplicate incoming text messages for several months now. Doesn't happen all ... At any rate, I think it's an Android issue as I've had a friend with a Samsung Galaxy say that she received duplicate messages on occasion, although not as many as I receive. read more

Select “Messages“. Choose “Send & Receive“. Ensure that only your phone number is listed in the “You can be reached by iMessage at” area. If you have an email address or anything else listed, it could cause duplicate text messages. Fix 3 – Toggle iMessage Off then On.
