There are many species of armadillos that are endangered and/or threatened. This is due to many different reasons including human encroachment, slash and burn farming, and hunting. Deaths due to domestic dogs also account for a large percentage of the problem. read more
One reason there are fewer Giant Armadillos now, is that their living space is being used for farm land. This is to make raw materials, like sugar cane, for Bo-Ethanol which is becoming important in place of oil. Oil is limited, and people need new sources of energy. read more
