Doxie is easier to spell and easier to pronounce than Dachshund. I use it all the time because I like the sound of it. When I talk to someone who is not familiar with the breed I use the word Dachshund instead. read more
There is also an annual dachshund run in Kennywood, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, called the Wiener 100, and in Huntington, West Virginia called the Dachshund Dash.
