While I'm no expert, I would guess that the mottled yellow-brown coloring of the juveniles is, at least partially, protective coloration, just like the somewhat similar pattern on the adult female's feathers. read more

Not all baby ducks are yellow. Commonly, Pekin ducklings are yellow, so are Jumbo Pekins and a few other breeds. Duckling can range in color from bright yellow, to tan, to brown and yellow, to many things. And yes, the feathers do change color when they get older. In the case of a yellow Pekin, they will become a brilliant white. read more

If the eye is truly infected, or the previous step doesn't seem to help, resort to an antibiotic eye ointment. Applying eye ointment can be a little tricky at first.
