Why are houses in the US made using wood and not stone/brick?

It depends upon which area of the country you are in. Here in Atlanta brick is not unusual, in fact it is standard in nicer homes, although it is usually a veneer added to wood framed construction. First, nobody builds houses out of brick anymore. Modern houses almost always use brick as a cladding material; a facade. Structural brick is very rare in new construction. In the US, the structure of brick houses is commonly wood, and in Europe, it is commonly concrete masonry. read more
