Why are schools closed on Presidents Day?

The United States Postal Service will not deliver mail on Presidents Day, but UPS and FedEx will operate as usual. Banks. Most banks, including Federal Reserve Banks and Wells Fargo, will be closed. TD Bank will be open Presidents Day. Schools Most public schools will be closed to observe the federal holiday, and many private schools will do the same. read more

Other holidays where schools are closed include Christmas, New Year’s, Veterans Day, Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving. Some schools may give up holidays like Columbus Day when they have used too many snow days in that year. Or, they shorten their holiday break schedule to make up for the days missed. read more
