Why are some asphalt roads in Wyoming tinted red?

I love to take road trips. I find it very peaceful to drive to distant places. I also like to see how other states construct and maintain their roads. If the rocks and sand used for roads in that part of Wyoming have a reddish tint, the resulting road will share that color. In some places and instances, colored binders or a coating are used to give a road a certain hue, but this is usually for specialized purposes, such as bike lanes. read more
