Parrots generally lose their feathers to one of two causes, Feather Destructive Behavior, or disease. The most common disease to make them lose feathers is PBFD, which is ultimately fatal. read more
A bird with PBFD must be kept far away from other parrots. A bird with Feather Destructive Behavior is stressed in some way. This is extremely frustrating and heartbreaking for owners, especially if you have many parrots and only one or two show this behavior (like me!). read more
Birds are not naturally featherless. If you see a featherless bird, either it is a genetic disorder, has been genetically altered, or simply has been plucked very recently. read more
