Why are the graphics so bad on Minecraft?

Bad is relative. Minecraft has a good graphics engine, and can handle better graphics from e.g. mods which require them. It has a pixelated style because that's how it was made; personally, I think that block-based games with higher resolution textures look janky because there's such a sharp contrast between textures and models. read more

Recently, I've heard a lot of people whining that MineCraft has "terrible graphics, everything's so blocky and stupid!". Well, personally, I'm not a graphics freak, so yeah. To those that are, it still works. read more

lol thanks everyone, yea I might buy it haha. Yea minecraft doesn't have the greatest graphics either, yet it was able to accomplish worldwide publicity. I feel like that's still missing the point. It isn't that either Rebirth or Minecraft have "bad graphics." It's an aesthetic. A design choice. read more
