Most aquatic species have fresh water and salt water varieties, however I cannot remember hearing of a freshwater cephalopod. Do they exist, and if not, what is the most likely reason why not? Cephalopods include squid, cuttlefish, octopuses and nautiluses. read more

The squids that are most commonly kept in aquariums are reef squid, but they are also very social squids. They would need a shoal to swim with to be sustainably healthy. Octopuses on the other hand, are very solitary and stationary animals. read more
