Kelp thrives in nutrient rich cold water currents like coasts of Southern New South Wales or Victoria in Australia, South West Africa, The US West Coast. Hawaii is a warm rich tropical and sub tropical environment not good for kelp. read more

Maui Schooner, Maui Ssunset are two of the condos on this stretch. 18yrs ago, when we bought there, there was more seaweed than there is now. This is a county park and they plow the seaweed off the sand on a regular schedule. read more

Kelp is a Brown Alga, which can grow up to 100 meters & grows in 6 - 14 degrees Celsius temperature. Like Sargassum some of its leaves have air bladders for buoyancy. In earlier times it was used to make Soda ash, but now is a source of Sodium & Calcium alginate. Good quality seaweed liquid fertilizer can also be made out of it. read more
