I played goalie most of my life, and I use a "left-handed" goal stick, because I catch better with my left hand and my right hand would be at the top of the goal stick (more control). read more

When you "shoot left" it means your left hand goes behind on your forehand shot. It's probably more effective for putting pucks into the goalie's right side of the net. (which is on your left side).
