Maybe the seeds could be moved places by an animal, either because the seeds got stuck to it or because the animal carried them on purpose. You might think ... A pine cone could certainly be transported by water, but the problem with that idea is that conifers are land plants, and can't really grow in the water. read more

There are a few, but pine needles are just not that nutritious, plus the pine oil tastes bad. In the PNW and California we have the Red Tree Vole which spends its whole life on a Douglas fir tree and eats only Douglas Fir(*) needles (and probably the odd bug as well). read more
