My theory: The lack of fat superheroes—only slightly alleviated by the few bulky or chubby ones out there—is an artifact of the comic book medium. It’s a visual art. It’s got to be colorful and eye-catching. read more
Doom isn't a superhero though, so he isn't meant to be idolised, except by his own citizens sometimes. There have been plenty of fat supervillains, like Doctor Octopus or Mole Man- but that's mostly subject to the artist's style sometimes. read more
