Aside from it’s brassy colour, the Saxophone doesn’t sound like a brass instrument. It sounds sorta like a brass variation of a Clarinet with a slightly different edge to the way it sounds. The sound is created by blowing against the reed and vibrating it to create a sound. The sound comes out of the bell of the instrument. Trumpet is not something you can play casually, you need to stay in shape with a nearly daily routine or the muscles rapidly deteriorate. Saxophone can be played more sporadically with less detriment. It's also just an easier instrument in general. That being said, it sounds like you'd benefit from simply sticking with one instrument for a while. read more
