Not too much more than a string quartet. There are many other musical forms than Symphonies. Beethoven's 3rd symphony broke some rules, such a “sour note” in the opening exposition. What sounds ok now, was weird for ears in 1800s. He only wrote one Opera and a few masses.but his piano works and chamber music are plenty. His piano Sonatas are divine. read more
