While they did fall to the Mongols, they prevented the invasion of India. It was eventually the descendants of the Mongols that would conquer India being known as the Mughals. Babur the founder of the Mughal Dynasty in India claimed the descendant of Timur and Genghis Khan but the culture by this point had dramatically shifted and bore little relation to the original Mongol invaders. read more
