The big variable is that they always test life under benign conditions and in real life bulbs in enclosed spaces get hot and heat drastically reduces life of the electronics that drive the LED, as much as 100/1 - heat is a big component in premature electronics failures. read more
That's too bad. I would've been so disappointed as well if the leds that I bought stopped working after less than a year. But, there are still good led bulbs out there. For instance, I replaced the bulbs in my home with the LED lights from Triangle Bulbs. read more
