The movies (as well as the books) get darker with each new story because that is how JK Rowling planned it. Even the Warner Brother's logos got increasingly tarnished and worn looking to signify this. read more
Now, now, I know that the latter Harry Potters are supposed to be darker, but there are so many interpretations and presentations of 'dark' - crime and grittiness dark (Martin Scorsese) and fantasy dark (a la Tim Burton). Yates' vision for the Harry Potter films was "crime and grittiness" dark. The fantasy was sucked out. read more

Maybe it's because I take into account that both HP1 and HP2 were very faithful to the books. read more
