Why did Turkey join NATO?

Liberal policies of course had pointed the USA-EU (ECSC/EEC back then) pole in the world, and thus, the NATO pact to Turkey. Turkey also had “proved” its NATO-ism by joining the Korean War in 1950 and being one of really few NATO members that had sent troops to the warfare on NATO’s side (please note that, subsequent to joining NATO pact, Turkey had also executed the Ankara treaty with the prudential EEC in 1963 regarding the customs union within this scope). read more
