If I had to live in the western half of Florida, I would be on the eastern fringe of it -- like Dade City, San Antonio or Zephyrhills. But, I like things simple and rural -- that's why I bought my retirement property in Okeechobee. You couldn't pay me to live near the Gulf coast, and I dislike the beach. read more

Weather: Thanks to the Earth’s rotation the East side gets the sun first and thus the Sea Breeze cranks up earlier. This is significant during the rainy season. Thunderstorms generally occur in a line where the East and West coast sea breezes meet. Since the East side cranks up earlier, the storms generally are pushed farther west. read more
