I suspect many Americans detest urbanization for many of the reasons I do. That is, the crowding. Americans value their space, and dislike people rubbing up against them literally or figuratively. America has an Individualistic culture. Asia has a Collectivist culture in most parts of Asia. read more
The 5 percent of Americans living in urban areas (places with more than 2,500 persons) lived mostly in small villages. Only Philadelphia, New York, and Boston had more than 15,000 inhabitants. The South was almost completely rural. read more
