Why do bears kill baby bears?

I live in South Africa, so I don’t know much about bears. But I do know that this is a common behaviour for hippopotamuses. When a female hippo gives birth, she moves away from the rest of her herd/pod. The dominant male will kill the newborn if it is a male. He doesn’t want competition. read more
