Actually sometimes hurricanes do hit many west coasts of the world. (Called typhoons in East Asia and Willy Willies/Cyclones in Australia) do hit California, especially Baja California. The reason Spain almost never gets hit is the coast line goes north east rather than generally both west in California. read more
