Why do I hate “Wicked” the musical?

I hated it the first time I saw it. It was just a musical about a bunch of annoying people being annoying to each other. A large part of my dislike was that I was sitting at the back though. read more

#24 Posted: 3/9/10 at 7:48am I don't hate it, but it's not my cup of tea, especially since I read Wicked the novel first (just last year, in prep for seeing Wicked the musical on tour) and ended up liking the very dark and ambiguous themes in the novel (versus the more clearcut and simplified themes in the musical, and the different ending). read more

I don't mind the great animated musicals (such as Rio, Mulan and Moana) where the songs can easily convey something to the viewers, and actually fit in with the story (e.g. not sung at a random moment), but I dislike live action musicals such as Mamma Mia, High School Musical and (sorry, musical fans) Grease due to the fact that, as said, it is quite unrealistic. read more
